Highlights of Mui Ne, Vietnam

After leaving Nha Trang, Vietnam, Sarah and I then take a bus to experience the Highlights of Mui Ne VietnamTravel Highlights of Mui Ne Vietnam, Mui Ne Vietnam

We stayed at a great hotel $8/night for a double room, shared bath.

It was right on the beach and had a nice pool!

So fancy for only $4 (:

In Mui Ne, we randomly met up with two German guys we had met at Hoa’s place and rented motorbikes together to explore the area.

Highlights of Mui Ne Vietnam

1)Ferry Stream:

A shallow sandy-bottomed stream lined with mawo palms and white contrasted, bright-orange, sand cliffs. Mushroom-shaped sand formations give the impression of walking in a fairytale land.

Make sure to follow it all the way to the waterfall at the end.

2)  White Sand Dunes:

Travel Highlights of Mui Nhe Vietnam, Mui Nhe VietnamThe second of the Travel Highlights of Mui Ne Vietnam is the unique White Sand Dunes…

Difficult to find, and much farther than expected.

The graceful dunes, although not spectacular in size or expanse, their location with their milky-white curves dipping elegantly into a florescent-green, lilly-padded lake below, make them quite uniquely beautiful – best at sunset!

And the journey to them is an adventure in and of itself.

PS: Don’t loose your keys in the dunes after dark… unless you want to add to the adventure. I was quite luck to actually find mine.

Directions to the White Sand Dunes, Mui Ne, Vietnam:

Go north along the coast –

1) after reaching the fishing village take the first left

2) left at the TTravel Highlights of Mui Nhe Vietnam, Mui Nhe Vietnam

3) right at the T-roundabout, this is where the red dunes are

4) follow this road – staying to the left – until another T – take a right

5) follow this road for a while along the coast – after the gas station and up a hill you will see the dunes off a ways to your right

6) in the village at the bottom of the hill

take the first right – dirt road – and follow this all the way around to the dunes.

(It is the same road the bus comes in on from the north – go farther than what you think).

3)  Red Sand Dunes:Travel Highlights of Mui Nhe Vietnam, Mui Nhe Vietnam, Red Sand Dunes Mui Nhe Vietnam

The third of the Travel Highlights of Mui Ne Vietnam are the Red Sand Dunes…

We want to see sunrise at the red dunes so we decide to spend the night out in them, under a full moon.

Beautiful moment in time: I lay on the crest of a tall dune.

To the west a round, pink moon is sinking into the dunes; simultaneously, to the east, a large, red sun rises out of a deep-blue, tranquil sea.

Its eery glow sets the dunes aflame and wakes the sleepy, fishing village below.

Above me white stars, fight to hang onto the night but fade into pink clouds as the bold sun takes over the sky. Such beauty cannot be expressed in words!

  1. The ferry streams look really cool -how did they form? did it use to be a larger river there? do locals live in that area or near the sand dunes?
I think that is amazing that you all spent the night under the stars!
Did you have bedding? and your backpacks? Did you feel safe? Were you with the 2 guys? Did you see locals at all or have a tour guide?
    That is so cool.

  2. That waterfall is beautiful! Is it hard to get to? and does the ferry stream run right into the ocean? (is Mui Ne, Vietnam right on the coast?)
… the name of the place you stayed at isn’t showing up correctly… I assume it is a Vietnamese name and the computers have different symbols there?
Love all your travel highlights of Mui Ne, Vietnam -it’s beautiful! Is it hot there? what is the weather like?

  3. The sand dune photos are lovely! Do people live by the sand dunes?
